Everything in the Salish Sea is connected in one great circle. From the Orcas to the water to the
land and the trees. Everything is connected. In this piece I wanted to acknowledge the land, the
water, and the community that ties us together. The water is painted following the grain of the
wood panel, and the whales are revealed through the shape of the grain. The shore and the
trees are painted from the lines of the grain as well to acknowledge their connection within the
circle.
