Welcoming all levels of recorder, music history, and music theory students.
Recorder Studies
Learn from one of the few fun, dynamic instructors in Victoria for whom the recorder is her major instrument specialization. While many people mistakenly see it as a "child's instrument," the recorder is the original flute, existing centuries before the modern flute was invented. It is an instrument on par with any other classical music instrument. Henry VIII loved the recorder so much, that he owned 70 of them and even composed music for this instrument! Come and drown in the beauty, power and majesty of this instrument fit for kings. All lessons are student oriented, giving students a chance to learn at their own pace, and to pursue the instrument as far as they want to. Instruction following the recorder syllabus of the Royal Conservatory of Music with all requisite exams is an option. With enough students, public performances will also be available. Absolute beginners can receive instruction in reading music as a part of their lessons. Advanced students may elect instruction in performance practice techniques. Individual or small group rates are available.
Music Theory/History
Lessons will follow the curricula of the RCM or the VCM, depending on the student's preference. Individual or small group rates available.
