Call for Art - Little Fernwood Gallery

Call for Art - Little Fernwood Gallery

Operating within the traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən-speaking peoples, the Fernwood Community and Arts Association’s Little Fernwood Gallery Committee seeks proposals for month-long exhibitions to be held at 1923 Fernwood Road from January to December 2027.

This Call is open to all local artists/groups/collectives, with the selection process prioritizing artists within the Fernwood community who experience systemic barriers to inclusion in the visual arts, and who employ diverse approaches to their art. We are seeking a wide range of art-making, and an array of material explorations that reflect our unique community. Emerging artists are encouraged to apply. Please note that to accommodate other users of the space, all artwork must be displayed on the perimeter of the gallery. Plinths are available on request.

The Little Fernwood Gallery follows accepted protocols on copyright infringement and non-appropriation of Indigenous cultures — work that infringes on these guidelines will not be accepted. The Little Fernwood Gallery is a publicly supported gallery and we reserve the right to show work suitable to our neighbourhood.

Please send a single PDF, including embedded images, with the following information:
- Name
- Contact [email, phone, address]
- Artist statement [up to 250 words]
- Description of proposed exhibition [up to 250 words]
- 5-10 images of proposed work for your show
- List of Images that includes Title, Medium, Date, and Dimensions
- Please indicate month(s) of the year you would prefer for your exhibit, if applicable

* Artists requiring alternative application formats may contact the FCA Office

Email application to: [email protected]
Deadline: September 15th, 2026

A floor plan and additional information can be found online: littlefernwood.ca/lfg

Please note:

At this time, the gallery is a multi-purpose, high traffic space with access to Paul Phillips Hall. The FCAA and/or the Little Fernwood Gallery committee is not responsible for any lost or damaged artwork.

All selected artists must agree to gallery-sit Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons during the presentation of their exhibit. You may designate a representative to gallery-sit on your behalf.

We kindly ask that you wait two years before applying if you have exhibited with the Little Fernwood Gallery recently.
