Cedar Hill Recreation and Arts Centre is seeking instructors to deliver visual arts programs with a focus on children and/or youth. Teaching opportunities may include spring break and summer camps, weekly after school classes, community programs and special events. Initial shifts may be substitute teaching, but would develop into scheduled programs in future sessions. Available hours may include daytime, evenings, and/or weekends based on program needs.
The successful candidates will be skilled in a variety of art mediums, creative, outgoing and friendly, adaptable and have experience teaching art to children and/or youth. Program planning and preparation will be expected. The ability to develop positive relationships with children and youth, strong facilitation and communication skills, problem solving and the ability to work independently as well as in a team are all valuable skills for this position.
Requirements include minimum completion of Grade 10 and three months experience in art instruction. Additional related certification and experience in art and art education is an asset. Requirements also include a satisfactory Police Information Check (PIC) with vulnerable sector check prior to being hired. All costs associated with the PIC search are the responsibility of the applicant.
