Finally! A Hendrix tribute project by one of the few guitarists who have any business doing a whole program of these landmark compositions, Christy Doran. Joined by Erika Stucky’s approach to the vocals, which uses an ordinary booming blues rock style that is greasy, straight ahead and connects more with the basic rock roots of the music, no more or less experimental than Hendrix was himself. This Swiss-based power trio has Doran’s guitar playing at centre stage with Freddy Studer behind the trap set, and monster bass guitarist Jamaaladeen Tacuma which gives this rhythm section a fat, muscular, slightly funky sound. Doran and company keep things raw and dirty
throughout and the whole thing ultimately hinges on Doran’s unmistakable and innovative Hendrix-derived guitar style.
