About

Frank Lewis

Frank Lewis moved from Winnipeg to Victoria when he was 13 years old, graduating from Oak Bay High School in 1952. He studied for four years at the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design) learning from such artists as Jack Shadbolt, Gordon Smith, Arthur Erickson and Donald Jarvis.

Lewis has painted murals in many places since he produced the first two in Chemainus in 1982. Among them are Vancouver's 100th anniversary mural on the wall of the Maritime Museum, Peacock's Billiards in Victoria, the XV Commonwealth Games Mural in Victoria, a Heritage Townscape mural in Kenora, Ontario and one for the entrance hall of the Canadian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has done several for the City of Victoria.

His work also appears on canvases in many homes in Canada and the United States.
