About

High Tone

This renowned French group from Lyon is the undisputed leader of that countrys dub live scene (and was rated one of the 10 best performances at last years Montreal Jazz Festival). Although its easy to hear the heritage of Lee Perry and King Tubby in their fat, loping grooves, High Tones dub combines 70s roots with the more contemporary influences of hiphop, drums & bass, electronica, and a lot of Middle Eastern sounds that position these guys halfway between Jamaica and Tibet and light years ahead of their more conventional competitors. High Tone is revered for its stunning live shows, which become a mindspinning interaction between groove-based beats, trippy video, and a full-on retinal circus light show. Come out and see Dominique Peter drums, Fabrice Oresta bass, Lionel Dumas DJ, Antonin Chaplain keys/sampler and Julien Oresta guitar. Light, tight, bright n shiny ... fun and fully formed. -Mirror
