Kim Greenwood is a multi-faceted artist who spans genres including jazz, pop, musical theatre and classical. She's an actor at heart and this comes shining through in all her repertoire, engaging audiences at every turn; her warm, eloquent vocals elicit images of singers from bygone eras.
Since starting her professional singing career in 1994, Kim has performed many genres with many ensembles from jazz duo to classical soloist with full orchestra.
Kim has a love of music that began when she was a very young child, singing Tin Pan Alley favourites around the piano with her Mum. Her formative years also included studies in piano, ukulele, dance, and acting.
Over the past few years, Kim has formed her own ensembles and collaborates with many of the fine jazz musicians on the west coast of Canada. In 2017, Kim created and produced the highly successful "Ella at 100" tribute show that sold out Hermann's Jazz Club and the Osborne Bay Pub in Crofton. She followed that up with her new show, “All About That Verse”, to resounding success and capacity crowds in the fall of 2019. In the fall of 2020 Kim debuted “The Carpenters & Burt Bacharach”; Karen Carpenter has been a huge influence on Kim since she was a little girl and she was thrilled to present The Carpenters’ material with a distinctly jazzy flavour. In the spring of 2022 Kim & Diane Pancel debuted special tribute shows, "A Sentimental Journey" and "Over the Rainbow" celebrating legendary artists, Doris Day and Judy Garland, in honour of their 100th birthdays. She is currently self-producing her first EP and has released two singles on digital platforms.
Kim's operatic roles include Zia Principessa in Puccini’s "Suor Angelica" and Miss Todd in Menotti’s "The Old maid and the Thief" with The VCM's Opera Studio. Other noteworthy performances include "Brahms Alto Rhapsody" with The Civic Orchestra of Victoria, Robert Fleming’s "The Confession Stone", and alto soloist for Handel’s "Messiah" with the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra.
Kim has been running her private studio ‘Vivid Voice' for over 20 years and loved every minute of being on faculty at The Canadian College of Performing Arts from 2012 - 2021, helping shape young performers’ careers. She was a Lead Instructor on Singdaptive.com from 2020-2022, the exciting new asynchronous learning platform. Kim is passionate about professional development; her professional affiliations include The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), The Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA) and she is a certified Somatic Voicework (TM) The Lovetri Method teacher. She is a sought-after educator, adjudicator, and mentor.
Kim’s passion for performing and teaching have always gone hand in hand - each influencing and informing the other.
