Magic Malik Orchestra

African-born Malik Mezzadri had a musical destiny, one that was awakened when a flute teacher exposed him to Bach, Ravel and Stockhausen. The young man eventually pursued his muse to the Marseilles Music Academy, where he collected first prize before migrating to Paris to start a truly bohemian adventure, one that culminated in a world tour with Julien Lourau�s Groove Gang. Subsequently empowered to lead his own group, Malik took everything he knew or learned from his travels-from drums �n� bass and African polyrhythms to Indian ragas and heart-rending Bolivian tunes-and recast it with the freedom that only jazz allows. This mesmerizing soloist now heads up one of the most bewitching musical melting pots on the scene, offering a rare combination of technical excellence with boundarycrossing insights and passionate musicianmanship.
