BUOYED BY CRITICAL RAVES FOR THEIR NEW ALBUM
AND EUROPEAN CONCERT DATES, MEW ANNOUNCES ITS FIRST NORTH AMERICAN TOUR IN SIX YEARS

“Mew is simply all that is good about popular music.” - Yahoo! Music

Acclaimed Danish alt-rockers Mew today announce their first North American headline tour since Summer, 2009. The 16-city trek launches on September 17 in San Diego, CA and will see the band bringing their cinematic and trippy prog-rock to theaters, large clubs and ballrooms as they work their way cross-country to wrap up in Boston on October 11. The full itinerary is below; tickets go on sale Friday, June 12, and more info is available on the band’s website.

The tour is in support the of the April 28 release of Mew’s critically-acclaimed album, + - ('plus-minus'/PIAS). In its review, Pitchfork called + - “one of the most magnificent-sounding rock records you’ll hear all year,” while Stereogum dubbed the band’s music “miraculously beautiful…it demands awe, but it deserves awe.”

On these dates, Mew - Jonas Bjerre/vocals, Bo Madsen/guitar, Silke Utke Graae Jorgensen/drums and bassist Johan Wohlert (recently reunited as its original four-piece with the return of Wohlert) - will utilize video, LED trees and other special lighting to create a quixotic experience for concert-goers. The set list will include fan-favorites such as “Zookeeper’s Boy,” “Am I Wry? No,” “Comforting Sounds,” and “Snow Brigade,” interspersed seamlessly alongside new tracks like “Satellites” and “Water Slides."

“We are thrilled that we will finally be returning to North America to tour,” said Mew’s vocalist Jonas Bjerre. “It’s been too long and we can’t wait to play for our U.S. and Canadian fans again.”
