The Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre is operated by the Cowichan Wooden Boat Society which has as its mission the preservation of, for present and future generations, the maritime heritage of our coast and the culture of wooden boats. The Maritime Centre can be described as a “living museum”. In addition to the historical exhibits and displays, the facility boasts a full workshop, a fleet of row boats, a marine library of over 2,000 books, and an active marine ways. Individual and family memberships are available at reasonable rates and provide full access to these and a number of other benefits that are suitable for all ages. Boat building courses are offered through the year as well as workshops on all things nautical. The Society also sponsors regular fundraising events with a nautical theme at the Museum.
