. Saturday, April 30th IMU presents The ALEJANDRO MARIN BAND CD Release Party w/ MEXICAN DRUG PATROL, WHITEY & TAYLOR HARP @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . 9pm / $10 cover @ the door

The ALEJANDRO MARIN BAND - Although they're a long way from South America, the Alejandro Marin Band's music is effortlessly authentic, as groovy as it is smooth, and of course, a lot of fun. Formed in drunken happenstance by members of Innertwyne, Trophy Wife and 7th Sun, the acoustic trio couples Spanish-tinged steel-string finger-style guitar work with Colombian-folk inspired nylon-string guitar chops and dual vocals that fit together perfectly. http://www.myspace.com/alejandromarinband

MEXICAN DRUG PATROL - Formerly known as The HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS, Mexican Drug Patrol brings blazing electric desert surf rock to the clubs of Vancouver. The guitars of James Elwood and Ben Fussell do the talking, backed up by Tony Dallas on drums and the recent addition of Dave Wise of Fuzzcat on bass. The band is hard at work recording their first album, which will be stuffed to the gills with original instrumental rock tunes. http://www.myspace.com/mexicandrugpatrol

WHITEY - Delivering the goods in BC since February of 2001, Whitey has been charging dance floors and festivals across the country since 2005. With an EP, two full-lengths, and a documentary/live DVD in their library, this group from Chilliwack/Vancouver BC is well experienced.
