Event Description

The annual Family Stump Christmas Party returns from the dead, funnier, freakier, and more preposterously joyous than ever!
Featuring: The Family Stump Unplugged, Company B, and the band formerly known as Queso Blanco
The Family Stump UNPLUGGED
Vancouver's most notoriously inappropriate and bizarre country band has been in hiding, keeping one step ahead of the law and 2 steps ahead of flying wieners and plastic babies. On December 20, the band resurrects their infamous Christmas party series at the Railway Club... the band now weaves it's grin inducing country madness as an acoustic quartet, 2 boys, 2 girls, glorious songs, charming family storytelling, and a hundred moments of subtly disturbing hilarity! Think The Mighty Wind, but windier. Think Frank Zappa, but at the Grand Ol' Opry. Think about the best thing you ever ate that made your tummy feel weird fafter... think STUMP UNPLUGGED!!! This show's lineup features: Jeff Younger, Bess Durey, Joseph Blood and Jen Hodge.

COMPANY B
Company B Jazz Band, a 6-piece group in the style of the Andrews and Boswell Sisters, rouses crowds for dancing and smiles with their cheerful renditions of classic repertoire from the 1920s through 1940s. Loaded with personality, the harmonies of the female vocal trio are well-complemented by top-notch instrumentalists. Company B Jazz Band is a light-hearted, hard-swinging group of talented young musicians based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The group's main attraction is its three harmonizing female singers who perform in the style of classic 1930s and '40s acts like the Andrews Sisters and the Boswell Sisters. The singers are backed by guitar/banjo, upright bass and clarinet, though the group is often augmented by a drummer, trumpet and/or trombone. They have an uncanny ability to cause feet to tap and faces to smile with their fun arrangements of classic jazz and swing era hits as well as with their classy image, based on the fashions of that era.
