Take a long lunch to see this intimate in-studio showing and support a new international collaboration!
Suddenly Dance Theatre is Victoria’s established dance company known for creating works for stage, screen, and public installation. The company’s Artistic co-Director David Ferguson was recently awarded a Dance Victoria Chrystal Dance Prize to create a new international collaboration with Hyoseung Ye (Seoul, South Korea). This program offers a glimpse into an active creative cultural interchange at play with a work-in-progress showing of ‘We Are Diamonds’. Joining the collaboration are South Korean dancers Hoyeon Kim and Min Jin Kim, and Sound Designer Miles/Lowry; with Jung ah Chung as part of the second phase of creation in Seoul, later in 2016.
This program also features ‘Traces’ an autobiographical solo choreographed and performed by Hyoseung Ye. Violent gestures, poetic yet pushed to the unbearable, evoke the difficult years far away from his country as the ‘outsider’.
This program will also be featured July 9, 2016 in Nanaimo, BC as part of the Infringing Festival.
