Event Description

Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering, Open Stage 7:30pm. Feature Performer 9pm, Nov 20 - Etienne Siew, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash, Everyone welcome!

Etienne Siew is an Alternative Folk artist from Coquitlam, B.C., who writes from the heart and whose work embodies what we all love about the West Coast. As an artist of mixed Trinidadian, British and Guyanese ancestry, his music is influenced by the eclectic blend of soft rock, blues and folk roots he grew up listening to.His years as a canoe guide, and avid fisherman connect nature to his core and serve to inspire the vivid story-based songs he creates. His authenticity as a storyteller reaches people from every walk of life and earned him the distinction of the Country/Roots Artist of the Year and Top Fan Vote at the 2021 Fraser Valley Music Awards. His style, influenced by artists like Ray Lamontagne, City and Colour, and James Taylor, have helped to hone his unique expression of soaring vocals and warm acoustic melodies. Etienne often explores the relatable themes of love, friendship and overcoming adversity in his work, drawing on experiences that make us all human.
