Event Description

Ron Hadley: internationally acclaimed pianist, recording artist and veteran host of the Sunday Jazz afternoons at the Old School House in Qualicum Beach is joined by Vancouver's Rick Kilburn on bass. Ron is a veteran solo and ensemble player who studied with Jaki Byard at the New England Conservatory of Music and attended Berklee College of Music. His improvisations and solo renditions of jazz standards and original material continue to contribute to the success of special occasions, events and enterprises in many different settings.

Rick Kilburn: Born and raised in a musical family in Vancouver. He attended the prestigious Berklee School of Music. Rick has enjoyed a thirty-nine year career as a Jazz bassist working with some of the greatest Jazz musicians on the planet. During this period he has played at many famous Jazz clubs in the US, Canada and Europe. He worked as a bassist with such diverse players as Dave Brubeck, Mose Allison, Airto, Flora Purim and Chet Baker . Over the years Rick has produced and recorded many CDs for luminaries across Canada and abroad.
