Under the baton of conductor Ajtony Csaba, the UVic Symphony Orchestra presents an evening of vibrant and powerful works spanning centuries and continents. The program opens with a colourful and rhythmic performance of Kauyumari by contemporary Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz, followed by a spirited arrangement of Tempo di Minuetto by Marianna Martines, a trailblazing Classical-era composer. Violinist Tamsyn Klazek-Schryer, winner of the 2025 UVic Concerto Competition, takes the stage as soloist in Mozart’s elegant Violin Concerto No. 2 in D Major. The second half of the concert features Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 5, a timeless masterpiece that captures the struggle and triumph of the human spirit.
