People Gonna Talk, James Hunter’s debut album has a rich, classic that harkens back to classic 50s and early 60s soul yet remains thrillingly contemporary. Hunter’s infectious vocal (with a sweet growl reminiscent of Sam Cooke) and guitar performances, clever songwriting and tight horn arrangements mark him as a man of impeccable taste, and imbue his music with a timeless authenticity. Released in North America on Rounder Records, People Gonna Talk has already received support from public radio, talk shows like Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and Starbucks, where it is being sold. The sexy grooves of James Hunter’s R ‘n’ B-influenced soul may not follow any current trends, but the timelessness of his sound creates frenzies amidst hardened gig-goers and young hipsters alike.
