Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performers Sue Decker and Gavin Hodges at 9:00pm; Friendship Hall (formerly Norway House) 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door
The music created by Sue Decker and Gavin Hodgins inhabits the borderlands where folk, blues, country, and soul meet. Sue has released two albums of original songs to international acclaim for her songwriting, her rich and warm voice, and her distinctive slide guitar playing. Gavin, the host of CFUV's Hand-Picked Blues, shows his strong ear for melody and his love of a good groove in his mandolin and guitar playing. Ever since these two met at a music workshop in 2015, they have been crafting their unique sound as a duo. From vintage blues to compelling originals, Sue and Gavin's harmonies, heart, and humour on stage deliver a life affirming experience!
