Event Description

Have you always wanted to experience the art of hand embroidery? Learn a more artistic approach to sewing and open up your creativity through drawing and painting with thread!  This is your chance to learn from local artist Annie Nazarian in a cozy workshop environment.

Create your own beautiful hand embroidered faces inspired by the art of Annie Nazarian.

In this introductory workshop, you will learn to do basic, hand embroidery stitches and combine the use of other woven fabrics to create your piece. They will also get a chance to explore the variations of simple stitches which can be used to embellish your work or create a simple piece of embroidered art. The 3 hour workshop will focus on instilling confidence to do hand embroidery and use it in their own creative ways.
All materials and tools are provided, but you are welcome to bring any fabrics or trims that you would like to include in your piece.
Materials Provided:

Medium weight white cotton (for background)
Embroidery Floss
Regular Thread
Needles
Embroidery Hoops
Fabric (wide selection)
Lace
Ribbon
Buttons

Instructor Annie Nazarian is originally from Ft. St John, BC. She studied Fine Arts at University of Victoria and graduate in 1987 (BFA with honours). Annie also attended the Banff School of Fine Arts in 1988. She currently makes her home in Victoria, BC.Create your own beautiful hand embroidered faces inspired by the art of Annie Nazarian.
