RON PARKER – SOLO EXHIBITION

Exhibition opening Thursday October 6th, 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Running until Monday, October 17th.

In celebration of The Avenue Gallery’s twelfth year representing the paintings of Ron Parker we are honoured to hold his seventh solo exhibition, Juan De Fuca Beaches.

This series of paintings follows Ron on his hike of the Juan de Fuca trail he shared with his daughter last year. Capturing the acclaimed shores of the rugged Vancouver Island coast, Ron paints dramatic cloud formations, the subtleties of changing light and the power of the Pacific Ocean.

“My landscape oil paintings represent the culmination of all the skills I have acquired over 36 years of painting. I began with wildlife paintings in 1978, first in watercolour and then acrylics, learning how to render feathers, fir and foliage realistically. 20 years later I began to paint figurative paintings and portraits, learning how to use colour and texture to create sensitive renderings. In 2003, I began a series of over 400 'essentialist' paintings reducing the painting compositions to the essentials of design, form and rhythm using acrylics.” – Ron Parker
